Empathy Goes a Long Way in the Mortgage Business

We’ve all had tough business conversations, whether we are in the mortgage business or another business altogether. Empathy goes a long way toward establishing a strong human connection that transcends any one particular loan, transaction or deal—even when things don’t go according to plan.

Trevor Hammond is the retail regional manager of Sierra Pacific Mortgage Company in Portland, Oregon. He recently asked his team of mortgage loan officers to think about the human aspect of the mortgage business and what a difference empathy makes when dealing with a difficult situation.
